Non-federal student loan Can't repay my loan Can't decrease my monthly payments California

I graduated from the - of -. When I graduated in -/-/2008 the housing the market crashed jobs were slim to none to come by. I did manage to find freelance work to make ends meet. I was struggling to pay my student loans. When - - sold to Navient the rates changed on my loans as high as 7.25 % variable rates. I called Navient and they agreed I could pay interest only payments at $400.00 a month. I struggled for the past 12 years making these payments and yet my loan balance grew greater. I had to give up my apartment and move in with my sister. I had to stop my car insurance because of lack of money. I take the trolley to my various jobs. I 'm now paying $100.00 a month for mandatory medical insurance or I will be penalized on my income tax. I set up payments plan with - but stopped paying $400.00 a month to Navient. I was starving. I have tired several times to set up a pay plan based on my income with Navient. No one will help me and they have now sent my loan to a collection agency. I tried to set up a plan with the collection agency they said I must pay $850.00 a month. So it has come down to I must eat first and forced to pay the - medical. This ca n't be - that I was born and raised in.
