Citibank Credit Card Complaint

Unsolicited issuance of credit card

Citibank Credit card department,

Unsolicited issuance of credit card Massachusetts

I had a - through their partnership with - -. -/-/2016, they mailed me saying they were ending their partnership with - -. I had no desire to continue my - and since they no longer had a credit card to charge I assumed that would be the end of it. However, in -/-/2016, I received a billing statement from a Citi Visa card I had never signed up for or activated. The statement was for a $110.00 membership renewal fee on -. Costco had taken out a card in my name, without my consent and charged me for another year 's membership on it. Unfortunately, my wife saw the bill and paid it before checking if I had ever signed up for the card. I called Citi Visa to ask them to reverse the fee and they refused, claiming the account was valid even though I had never given consent to create the line of credit. They also stated that this was a transfer of an existing debt, even though the statement lists it as a purchase and I had no existing debt. When I asked for the address to send a formal letter to request the charge be reversed, they first refused and then disconnected the call when I insisted. After redialing, I was able to get the address and issued a written request to have the charge reversed on -/-/2016.
