Citibank Credit Card Complaint

Unsolicited issuance of credit card

Citibank Credit card department,

Unsolicited issuance of credit card New York

I applied for a Sears store card. I got the card and I used it several times while I was in the store. I then received a call from Sears extended warranty service, and, like many others, I extended my warranty for the washer and drier paying with the Sears card over the phone. All is well. I got the bill and I paid it using the online banking. Next month, I received another statement that the bill was not paid. I checked the statements, and I found out that I also have a Sears Master Card for which I did not apply. I had paid the Sears store card, but the last charge was on my MC. I called customer service and complained. They said : Did n't you receive a letter to opt out? What letter, I answered. Customer service : We send letters to inform customers with Sears store cards that they are upgraded to a Sears MC. They can opt out. I do not remember receiving such correspondence. Even if one receives such thing, who would pay attention to the process of opting out to something you did not want in the first place? Finally, at my request, customer service canceled the MC and I kept the Sears card, the product that I wanted in the first place.
