I recently opened a new credit card with Wells Fargo. I applied ( and was instantly approved ) for the card because they advertised a card that offered - rewards points per dollars spent at gas stations, grocery stores and drug stores. As a father of - children, I spend a lot in those merchant categories. I have a screen shot of the original offer as advertised. Shortly after receiving my card, I used it a few times and went to check out the rewards site to see what kinds of things I could use my points for in the future. I noticed that my card was only earning - point per dollars spent, even at grocery stores and gas stations instead of the - points per dollars it was supposed to be earning. I e-mailed to inquire and they said I had to call them instead for some reason. So I called, and they " opened a case '' for me. A few days later I got a call back and the agent informed me that they would not honor the promotion as advertised. I argued for a few moments, pointing out that this was extraordinarily unethical, and probably not legally allowed. The agent did not deny that, but said there was nothing she could do in her position. That 's basically brings us to today. I applied, and was approved for a credit card that advertised a specific promotion. Wells fargo should honor the promotion as it was advertised. Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter.
