Initially, I received a call from Receivables Performance Management. They only stated their name and asked for me to verify my identity. Unsure of the nature of their business, I asked what kind of business they conduct and told them I did n't feel comfortable disclosing my identity through sensitive information without knowing who they are as a company. They refused and said they could n't legally disclose that due to privacy issues. This seemed suspect to me so I refused and hung up. I called - - because I had just closed an account with them to see if there was any connection. After a conversation with a customer care representative, it was discovered that a $49.00 charge was in error and that I had a zero balance. On - -, 2016 I received an email stating that my balance was zero and that " A request was already sent to update your account to the Outside Collections Agency. Please be advised that it will take within thirty days to update. '' On - -, 2016 I was notified by - that a


I attempted to call Receivables Performance Management, but there was no answer after numerous rings ... not even a selection menu. No answer at all. I then called the billing department at - - and was transferred to an " account specialist ''. I explained my situation and asked them to rectify things with the collection agency with whom they have chosen to align ... communicating my frustration with how this collection agency either broke the law, or was operating on the fringes of the law. - - effectively stated that they could do nothing to remove the inaccurate credit report addition but resend the same information that they had sent in -. Receivables Performance Management does n't answer their phone. This is the reason for my complaint with the CFPB. I could have an attorney send a letter stating which law the collections company is violating, but out of principle I should n't have to pay an attorney fee to fix this.
