In - & - of 2016, BB & T Bank was running a promotion to open a checking account and get $150.00 bonus. Additional requirements were : establish a direct deposit of $500.00 per cycle & make 3 bill payments. I followed these requirements. 5 months later and still no sign of bonus. Phone call to customer service ( - ) ended up with them advising me to talk to my local banker as it was a " regional promotion ''. Talking to local banker stalled since the banker had to the same toll-free number and they told her that the account was opened with no promo code ( back in - I clicked on " Open Account '' button. There was no field to enter any promo code ). My impression is that the bank is avoiding following their own promotions in order to not pay the bonus.
