Purchased trip insurance from - -. The site allows you to enter your home country so it is clear that it is a worldwide organization, but I purchased the policy in US dollars and the policy is a US policy, " - '' underwritten by -, a US company. My credit card company US Bank charged me a foreign transaction fee for a US dollar transaction because the parent company is located in -, -. If I 'd know that I would be charged this fee, I would have used a different card that charges no foreign transaction fees, rather than earning miles on my usual credit card. Online reports say this is happening more and more often, with airlines that book you on overseas partners with US dollar transactions, or airline resellers like -. I called the insurance company ; they say it 's not their problem because they ca n't tell people they are a foreign company since some of their customers reside in -, their home country.
