I signed up for the credit card through a promotional period where if you purchase things over $1000.00 you get 12 months 0 % interest financing. The deal also had a 5 % credit back on all amazon purchases. I purchased a laptop for around $13000.00 which would have built up interest that would be charged to me if I did n't pay it back by 12 months. Since the 5 % credit is nice for purchases made off Amazon, I purchased a few things and then submitted payments to cover them thinking they would be applied to the purchases I made that would have immediate interest charged. I was wrong, the payments I made were applied to the promotional balance instead, so the credit card company was then charging me interest for the purchases I made to receive the 5 % credit. When I noticed this I called them directly and asked a customer representative about this and to see why the payments were not being applied to the purchases that would charge me immediate interest. He said all payments go towards the promotional purchase before I can pay the immediate interest

This is severely wrong, the customer representative lied to me, told me there were no other options, making me think that I would have to be paying interest until I paid off my laptop. I also feel wronged that the allocated payments were not directed towards the immediate interest payments rather than the deferred interest. It is tough to have time to read every single pamphlet/notice credit card companies give you and when employees lie to you about the payment policies that is very shady and the employee should be punished for such a thing. This is one of the reasons american 's are finding themselves in debt. On top of that their website is ridiculous and incredibly hard to log on too. They have crazy strict password restrictions, I swear it seems like they do n't want you to be on top of your finances.
