Wells Fargo & Company Credit Card Complaint

Closing/Cancelling account

Wells Fargo & Company Credit card department,

Closing/Cancelling account California

Wells Fargo closed my - credit card account ending in - on -/-/- without providing me any advance notice. The problem with this is that I had earned - points from purchases made with this card that were frozen that day and subsequently removed from my rewards account. These points had a cash value of $430.00 ( - cent per point ). I had no advance notice allowing me to use these points before they were revoked. In fact, I found out about my account closure by logging into the wellsfargo.com banking system and discovering it myself. A letter dated -/-/- was mailed to me AFTER the account had been closed with the reasons cited as : Over Six Months Account Inactivity - or more credit inquiries in the last 2 years on credit report Insufficient length of time accounts ( s ) on credit report has been established This card was opened on -/-/- and had been used as recently as -/-/-, which was just over 6 months prior to the date they decided to unilaterally closed my account without advance notice. The other reasons cited for the closure are far from anything unusual and should not have resulted

When I contacted Wells Fargo, they said that they would not reinstate my rewards points nor would they re-open the card without me applying as if I was opening a new card ( recquiring a credit inquiry ), but I pointed out since they just closed my account due to vague credit activity, it was unlikely they would approve me for a new account. I believe that the state of California prevents a bank from closing a credit card that results in the loss of rewards earned without providing advance notice to allow the account holder to use those rewards. Please at least help me get my - rewards points or a check for $430.00 from Well Fargo. I would also prefer to have the account re-opened w/o incurring any credit inquiry activity, as I have also lost the annual $100.00 airline charge benefit without being able to use it. Failing that, I also want a $100.00 airline fee reimbursement credit to be provided to me by Wells Fargo. Thank you!
