Amex Credit Card Complaint

Application processing delay

Amex Credit card department,

Application processing delay Florida

I applied for a AME- Card on -/-/2016, I was notified on -/-/- that my application was cancelled reason given- The reason for our decision is that you have reached the maximum number and type of Cards that we will approve within the period of a few months. Please know that your prior application ( s ) has been approved and your Card has been sent to you. I never applied before -/-/-, I called AME- and was told they only have - application and it was cancelled. They also informed me that I do not have an AME- Card. They are not able to tell me why they have stated the above in the letter they sent. They suggested I permit them to " Re-Underwrite '' the cancelled application. I do not understand this approach, as this would negatively impact my Credit Score ( - inquires from AME- within a week ).
