I receive about 5-8 phone calls from Navient regarding my private student loan each day. Some I missed a payment last month, Navient had called me non-stop every day on an auto-dialer. I know it is an auto-dialer because when I answer the phone there immediately is a prompt about the call being monitored and recorded. This is harassment because I am aware of my past due payment from email, and when I can make a payment I intend to. Also, there is no forgiveness for private student loans like there is for federal. I borrowed this loan when I went to culinary school. I did not end up becoming a chef, the college changed its name, and has since closed down. However, Navient is still harassing me about this loan when had it been a federal loan it could be forgiven by this point! I 'm owing them now so much interest it 's unlikely believable! Plus, part of the loan was for a time when I had withdrawn from the college. I ended up leaving the school on the first day of a semester, but they still charged me for laboratory fees for the entire semester! I never used the lab at all. This would be forgiven as well if I had a federal loan.
