Vehicle loan Problems when you are unable to pay New York

I have a loan from - credit from 14 years ago that I defaulted on in my younger years. I have heard nothing of this debt in at least 8 years, this is no longer on my credit report, I have not received any letters for an attempt to collect, they have not contacted any of my previous employers, an out of the blue on - - - the payroll department of my current employer received a subpoena from a lawyers office by the name of Rubin & Rothman LLC demanding information on my pay. This debt is from -/-/-, almost 14 years old and from what I understand the statue of limitation for the state of NY is 6 years.
