Installment loan Problems when you are unable to pay New Hampshire

My husband and I went to a company called USA discounters back in 2009 when we were - with our - child and just getting settled right off base. We were both in the Military. Everything was fine, until my husband was suddenly - three days after I - and I moved home to be closer to my family. Money was extremely tight, things were getting worse, and we started missing payments. The payments were around - a month. USA discounters started calling us threatening legal action, and finally started sending letters talking about taking us to court ... in -. I lived in - at that point and my husband was in -. There was no way we could have ever gotten there. Now, this debt sits on my credit score. It gets updated every year, and it has prevented us from getting a house. We have - small children. I still do n't know what to do. I 'm hesitant to even try and pay it, because of how terrifying these people were in the past to us. Now it is with a credit reporting agency, the same one who USA discounters was sending these horrible notices through. I need help.
