I received a mailing from a debt collection company called Dynamic Recovery Solutions dated -/-/-. It claimed that I owed the original creditor, -, the telecom company, $370.00. The letter also indicated that the debt was purchased from another collection company called - - -. I had never heard of the original debt. Upon calling Dynamic Recovery Solutions, I learned that the supposed debt was from -/-/- - 13 years old - and that it was not reportable to credit reporting agencies because of its age. I explained to the representative that this debt was not mine, that I had never heard of it, and that it is unscrupulous and illegal for a company to make up a debt in a consumer 's name and offer to negotiate that debt down, especially a supposed debt of such age. I threatened legal action and an FTC complaint if any further steps to collect this


I believe this company may be operating a scam, namely calling former - customers from years past and claiming that these consumers owed - some nominal amount that could be resolved for some fraction of the original " debt '' amount. As a result of the age of the " debt '', consumers ' lack of memory of debt from decades prior, and consumers ' fear of harming their credit scores, consumers may pay the $100.00 or so dollars to have the issue resolved, even if there was no " debt '' owed in the first place.
