Debt collections services from Portfolio Recovery Services are constantly calling my phone number, which I have not given to anyone. They refuse to disclose who they are trying to contact ( when I return their call ), demanding I first answer their questions ( which I refuse to be compelled to do - as I see it as assisting them and acknowledgement of their illicit tactics ). I have explained that I alone live at this address, and that I have NO outstanding accounts ( my credit score is mid - 's ). I presume that they have linked this phone number to this address and are seeking someone who lived here in the past. In principal, I DO NOT give out information to unsolicited callers, especially those who, in essence, are holding me hostage with harassing phone calls as a means of generating income by collecting past due debt. As I pay my bills in a timely fashion and maintain good credit of my own, I feel especially violated. I 've repeatedly asked/demanded that they stop calling. They refuse to allow me to record the calls, aware that I intend to take legal action. In truth, I prefer that their tactics be exposed and they incur whatever fines they merit.
