Wells Fargo Credit Card Complaint

Credit determination

Wells Fargo Credit card department,

Credit determination California

I want to start off by saying that I am currently a recepient of an immigration program called -. I have been living in the United States for 15 years and I currently have an Employment Authorization Document and a Social Security Number. I currently have a total of - credit cards with - different banks. I am currently using Wells Fargo as my bank. I 've had a Checkings and Savings account with them for about 3 years. I 've had a secured credit card with them for about 2 years. When I went in to my local Wells Fargo bank to open my Checkings and Savings account, there was no issue with my immigration status. Everything went smooth. When I applied for my secured credit card, they asked me for $300.00 dollars to open it and again, there was no problem with my immigration status. Recently, I went in to my local branch to withdraw some money and I was told by the teller that I was eligible for a Student Credit Card. Since my secured credit card was never graduated to an Unsecured credit card, I went ahead and filled out the application with the banker. I

not able to verify my identity. That letter stated that my application could be approved if I sent in a copy of my Social Security Card. I found this weird since I currently have a bank account with them along with a Secured Credit Card, yet they could n't verify my identity. I fulfilled their request and faxed them a copy of my Social Security Card. About 3 days after faxing them my SSN, I gave them a call because I wanted to know the status of my application. The representative on the phone told me that my credit card application had been denied due to me not being a permament resident. I was shocked by what she told me because like I said earlier, I currently have a bank account with them, a secured credit card and - other cards with - different banks and no other bank had ever brought up my immigration status as an issue. I would like to know why Wells Fargo has no issue with my immigration status when it comes to them receiving my money through my checkings account and they had no issue with my immigration status when they asked me for $300.00 to open the secured credit card. They will gladly take my money and make money for themselves using it, yet when it comes to me trying to get a credit card from them, they suddenly do n't want to deal with me because of my immigration status. I have been living in this country for 15 years and I am trying to build a strong credit history in order to purchase a home one day. What is the issue with that?
