Installment loan Problems when you are unable to pay California

Due to family hardships I was unable to keep up with the payments.I called - -/-/- to inform them of my situation and ask for assistance I was told I need to pay the full amount. The loan was then send to debt collection company - - - - - - - -, -, NY spoke to - - -, - - - who said They knew where I lived and all my information, and would go after everything I had and that I better pay by - -/-/- because they were sueing me and a lawyer would come to where I was. They would take my Home and retire, ent income. References were called and given personal information and were informed that it was an emergency because I was in trouble. The resolution was they gave me after saying they would help me was :1. Borrow money to pay2. Get cosigner 3. Take my retirement money 4. No pay, nets accepted if I did not give the $6000.00. 5. Judge would take everything including their attorney cost and interest.
