I have a US Bank secured credit card with a $1000.00 credit limit. That is the amount of the deposit I made with US Bank to get the card. While I have had credit issues in the past because of the economic collapse I have recovered from those issues. I have not had a delinquent payment for over 5 years now. All the issues on my credit report are old. When I took out the secured card I understood that I could add money to my account at anytime thereby increasing my credit limit. Recently I decided to add funds to that account, I contacted US Bank and was told that I could not add funds to that account to increase the credit limit until the account had been open for 6 months. That in order to make that deposit I would have to send a cashiers check, along with information regarding my annual salary and my request would be subject to a them pulling a credit report ( causing an inquiry and affecting my credit score ). I was not informed that I could not increase the credit limit by making a deposit to my account for 6 months or that a deposit to my secured account causing an increase in my credit limit was subject to approval of my credit report and income. This is a secured account, there is no risk to US Bank, if I do n't pay the card they have the account to collect from. My increasing the deposit to the account does not increase their risk in any way. Makes no sense why I would need to wait 6 months or why I would need a new credit and income check
