We have been making payments for a debt to a company called RJM Acquisitions. Today we received a call from - -, another debt collection agency, claiming they are the actual owners of the debt and that they are suing my husband for nonpayment. We now have to figure out who actually owns this debt and how we recover the fact that we have already paid a debt to a possible scam artist- all while being sued for this very old debt.
