My father went to the ER at - - - - in - T-. The hospital registration erroneously thought I and my father were the same since we have the same basic names- - - - although I have a - name which is - - My father was n't able to pay some of his bills since he does n't have insurance. Unfortunately the hospital used my SS # and assigned it to my father 's account. This was sent over to the collection agency PROCOLLECT. Since it 's my SS # my credit report and score are now adversely affected. I contacted ProCollect and even sent documents so they can change the SS # to my father 's but they refused to help me. The account manager, -, even accused me of taking over my father 's debt, saying I am now responsible for it. I did not sign any paper to assume my father 's debt, and - could n't produce -. I have contacted the hospital too, they sent me a letter apologizing for their mistake. Their business office, according to them, has contacted ProCollect so they can correct the error and - the hospital assured me that ProCollect promised to fix the error which has not happened. I am writing to please beg and implore to help me with this situation. I can still open new credits but with less favorable terms. I want to shop for auto and home insurance but I get less favorable quotes because my credit score plunged from - to -. All I 'm asking is for ProCollect to change the SS # on file on my father 's record from mine to his since the debt in question is not mine. Until this day they refuse to do so and I am being punished for something I did not do nor obligated to settle. I will attach documents as soon as I know how to do so. Thank you very much
