Checking account Deposits and withdrawals New York

Deposits were made to my checking account that did not have money to back the deposits up. I was not aware of this I withdrew the money. Now TD Bank is holding me to repay them back. -/-/- the my Social Security check was deposited to the checking account the next day the bank had taken the money .I would like this money back can I get it back?
