Cashing a check without an account Deposits and withdrawals Texas
I was written a check by a member of Chase bank. I went to Chase to cash the check and was told there would be a $6.00 processing fee to cash the check as I was not a customer of theirs. Why would it matter if I am their customer? I 'm holding a promissory note on their paper from one of their customers who obviously is using that bank to store their money. They ca n't even be concerned about cashing a check with insufficient funds, as obviously they can check the account to see if the funds are available. I simply do n't see the logic behind this new fee other than to try to get more money out of the average person. And why would I want to open an account with a bank that wants to charge me money to cash their own checks? How does that make good business sense?
