Debt collection false statements or representation attempted to collect wrong amount November 6, 2015 - I was contacted by letter from Contract Callers, a debt collection agency, regarding a balance I owed to - gas. The balance due was $400.00 The letter was a settlement offer. They offered me to pay $200.00 and my debt would be considered settled in full. I spoke to - - and was assured if I paid the $200.00, I would owe nothing else on this bill. A month after paying I received a collection letter from another agency for the remaining $200.00. - - told me my account was still open for the $200.00 balance.
