Citibank Credit card department,
Credit card protection / Debt protection Utah
I have had a credit card account with Best Buy for five years. It started on - Best Buy, and was migrated over to Citibank Best Buy ( I 'm not sure when. ) I 've been a very good customer, and have always paid my bill on time. I was shocked this month to find that for the past five years, I 've been being charged for " Debt Protection '' when I never signed up for it, and was never notified once the account was transferred to Citibank. I have already gone through the process to have it cancelled. After waiting 30 days, I just received a letter today saying they wo n't refund the service, even though I did not physically sign up for it. Checking my documentation, this was never a requirement on new credit accounts or that it would automatically be applied. I will take responsibility that I did not check my bill for wrong charges, but, as a good customer, I simply pay on time and have trusted Citibank to do the rest. I would n't have missed a few dollars here and there originally, but now I have a very high credit limit ( good customer, good credit ) and have been charged at time $50.00 a month for this service, paying in a little under $1000.00. They also will not take responsibility for the lawsuit ( referenced here : - ) and are trying to put the blame on me for a service I never agreed to. They said they will re-initiate the request, but why should I wait another 30 days for the same answer?
