Citibank Credit Card Complaint

Advertising and marketing

Citibank Credit card department,

Advertising and marketing California

In late -/-/2016 I received a mailed invitation to apply for a Citi/AAdvantage Platinum Select Card. The offer in the invitation stated that if I charged $3000.00 in the first 3 months of having the card, I would receive - ( - ) American Airline frequent flier miles. I applied for the card and charged in excess of $3000.00 in the first three months. I have paid all of these amounts promptly. Two weeks ago, I called the Citi number on the statement ( - ) - to insure that the - miles had been added to my AAdvantage account. I was told that because I had a similar card in the last two years I was ineligible for the - miles previously promised. I spoke with two levels of supervisors and each confirmed the same, one stating that the was a large number of people in similar situations. While Citi can make whatever rules it wants, if I was ineligible for the - miles : ( 1 ) why did they send an offer to the contrary and ( 2 ) why did they issue the card knowing that it was requested in response to their offer? It 's requested that your agency intervene in the matter and compel Citi to honor its promise, just as I have in paying all of their statements promptly. Also, I ask that ( if possible under your rules ) this complaint be made not only in my own behalf but also that of every other person in a similar situation. It is unfair to offer something as an incentive and, only after cardholders have performed their obligations to earn it, pulling it away. For purposes of the box below that requests money loss information, I 'm valuing the miles at one cent per mile, which to my understanding is customary. Thanks for any assistance you can provide.
