Citibank Credit card department,
On -, 2016 I purchased chocolates from - at the - in -. The saleslady rang my purchase for $86.00 when in fact it should have been for much less. When I brought this to her attention she apologized and said the sale has already been processed on my Macy 's credit card. To rectify the situation she rang up a credit on my Macy 's credit card thus effectively cancelling out the erroneous charge. When my statement from Macy 's came I noticed that the initial charge was processed but not the necessary reversed charge. I called Macy 's right away to dispute the charge and then as required I followed this up with a written dispute providing copies of the charges made by - including the reverse charge. Instead of following up on this, Macy 's sent me a letter claiming that since my credit card was not stolen or used fraudulently the charge was my responsibility. Macy did not even bother to address the issue about the reverse charge I was giving to cancel out the erroneous charge. Instead Macy 's was quick to threaten to report me to - Consumer Reporting Agencies for failure to make the necessary payment for something I do not owe. At the very least, Macy 's should have gotten in touch with - to get a better understanding of the situation.. - not only furnished us with copies of the sales receipts they also offered to help in any way they can to put the issue to rest.
