Hello, I am a - who just received my social security card from the US government as I began working on a - funded program. Since I had no credit history, I applied with Wells Fargo bank for a credit card. The application was denied and I was kept in the dark for a week and only received this information when I called up their customer care service. The reason for rejecting my application was lack of permanent residence proof and when I said that I have a SSN, they asked me to fax it or go to the Bank and a representative would do it for me. I went to the branch at -, - and also gave them a copy of my employment letter and the representative said she would call me up the next day and let me know the status. She did not bother to do so and I had to call her and leave my number twice the next day. When she finally attended my call, she said that the application was rejected. I know that Wells Fargo was in the news for cheating its customers last year, this just proves that their service is deteriorating too. The exhaustive process not only affected my credit rating, but also consumed a lot of my time.
