I opened a Citi AAdvantage card. During the account opening process, the application asked me to create a log in, sign up for a paperless option and then provide a secret word. When I selected Continue to move on, the website said " System Error. '' I tried calling customer service who was not able to identify me or find my application. They transferred me to the application team where my application was found. I was then told that there was " website issues '' or " some applications do n't allow instant access, maybe this was one. '' and to " Please just wait until you get your card and you create on online account. '' My concern remains that Citi is willing to send a credit card by - with no tracking methods to my house in the city where mail is often stolen and the only way to create an online profile is to " try calling back in 24-72 hours when your account goes to customer service and see if they can help or wait until you get the card. Maybe we could also send it to someone else 's house. '' I am concerned that I have no way of tracking the account opening process and delivery of my credit card without putting a hold on the account and potentially allowing someone to compromise the card without me being able to log in and see the account status.
