Citibank Credit card department,
Credit line increase/decrease Illinois
Citi Bank company purposefully dropped my credit limit under what I owe by almost $1000.00, without warning or time to bring my balance down under the limit. ( Previous limit : $4500.00 ... .dropped to $2300.00 ... .when I owe $ - ) Following is what happened, -/-/-, 2017 just before midnight, I made a payment of $1000.00 to Citi. I realize in the morning payment was for the wrong card. I called and asked Citi stop the transaction. I was told they did not see it in their system. As a precaution, I called my bank and explained what happened and to stop this payment. -/-/- 2017, they payment was removed from my account. I called and disputed it. My bank reversed the payment on -/-/-, 2017. Now on -/-/-, 2017, Citi drops my credit limit to $2300.00, which is almost $1000.00 ( $970.00 ) under my current balance. I in all good conscience, called and advised them of a mistake. I let them know I would pay a stop transaction fee if needed. But to change a persons limit, purposefully making the amount well, under their current balance, WITHOUT allowing me 60-90 days to pay down my balance to reach the new lower limit .... is just plain spitefulness. I do not care that they dropped my limit! I am concerned that by doing what they did, it is going to reflect negatively on my credit report/history. Which is what they wanted in the first place. I am ashamed that I ever accepted this card.
