Citibank Credit card department,
I recently applied for a Macy 's credit card on Macy 's website. The website said that it required further processing and that I would receive a letter in 7 to 10 days. I received the letter ( which I 've included ) saying they were unable to open an account because they could not confirm my identity, and to call them. I called them and they ask me a couple of questions and said to hold they would finish processing my application. They DID NOT tell me they were running my credit for a second time! When they got back on the line they said I was declined because of my credit score. The letter said they could n't verify my identity and nothing about my credit score which they already new. They had ALREADY pulled my credit on -/-/- when they sent me the letter. When they put me on hold and ran it again on -/-/- without telling me they were doing that, it dropped my credit score - points! That was the second time they ran it in 10 days. I would never have allowed them to run my credit a second time knowing they had just ran it on -/-/-. I monitor my credit closely and was immediately alerted when my score dropped - points. This has now dropped my credit rating to fair instead of good.
