Bank of America Credit card department,
Identity theft / Fraud / Embezzlement Connecticut
Today, I learned that my credit card account number had been changed by the issuing bank, Bank of America. I called to find out why and they told me that a vendor I recently used had data stolen, which may have included my former credit card number. For security purposes, they issued a new number. However, they would not tell me who the vendor was. I said that was very unfair to the customer, and they are protecting the vendor at my expense. BOA claimed legal obligations prevented them from revealing the vendor. I 'd like to push back on that by filing this complaint to force them to reveal the vendor. I should have the right to know which vendors ca n't keep their data secure.
