My elderly father opened a checking account with Wachovia ( Turned Wells Fargo ) sometimes around -/-/- when my dad and I were living in North Carolina. He added me as a power of attorney on his account. -/-/-, we moved to Florida, by then, Wachovia became Wells Fargo. Eventually, the bank offered my father a credit card which he added a COPY of the card to my name to help him with his transactions. After my father passed around three years ago, I notified Wells Fargo, they stiffed me with the entire balance. It was my father ' card, not mine, but they insisted that it 's my responsibility. I have done my research and found out that I 'm not legally responsible, but Wells Fargo would hear none of it. It has damaged my credit so bad, it has been a total nightmare. At one point, I could n't even get a loan to get a car, I was taking a taxi to take my kids to school which drained the family financially.
