Citibank Credit card department,
Closing/Cancelling account New York
On -/-/2017 I logged into my account and noticed that all my credit cards had - available credit. My reward points were also missing. I contacted Citicards to inquire regarding this and was notified that all my credit cards were unilaterally canceled and my points were confiscated. No reason was given by the supervisor I spoke with. I was told that my points were forfeited as the bank had decided to cancel my accounts with no prior warning. Such an action is disingenuous and it seems that the bank can simply close your accounts to avoid allowing you to use that which you earned and that which is rightfully yours. I spent thousands of dollars on my cards which Citibank earned processing fees for. Part of the reason for my use of Citibank 's cards was due to their generous rewards programs. This seems like an easy out for the bank to collect fees without giving anything in return. My credit is stellar and I have never missed a payment with Citibank or any other bank. I have always paid in full. While I ca n't fault the bank for making a business decision ( if that 's what this was ), I should have been given notice prior to closure and should not have had to discover this myself. I should have also been given an opportunity to redeem any rewards that I had accumulated over the years being loyal to the bank. I rely on my credit cards for daily spending and deactivating all my accounts without informing me at all is inappropriate and unfair. This closure with no warning resulted in extreme inconvenience to myself as well as my family.
