Citibank Credit card department,
Closing/Cancelling account California
Citibank arbitrarily, without notice or more importantly without justification closed my Double Cash account in E-CELLENT standing on -/-/2016, simply b/c I disputed a $32.00 charge for which I submitted detailed information to support the minor dispute. Citi advised me in writing that as a result of its investigation, my dispute was meritorious and it credited my account for $32.00. Then it was summarily closed without notice or justification. Besides being a loyal Citigold banking customer, I had had this acct for more than a year with 0 % APR on purchases. During this time, the following happened : 1 ) Citi increased my credit limit without my even having to request it. 2 ) I made more than $40000.00 in payments in advance of any of it being due b/c of the 0 % APR.
I did n't understand why I was n't contacted if Citi noticed suspicious activity. Instead, I was advised to write to Citi 's Office of the President. I have since written twice to Citi, first on -/-/2016, and again on -/-/2016, when I received no response from Citi. It 's impossible and unreasonable to think that after my making over $40000.00 in advance payments on an acct with 0 % APR that Citi independently deemed as being in excellent standing and increased the credit limit to $7500.00, that my disputing a $32.00 erroneous charge for which Citi issued a permanent credit in my favor would constitute anything but a " security risk. '' Citi 's actions were unwarranted and remain unjustified and have adversely impacted my credit history. I have followed Citi 's instructions to write to its Office of the President ( when electronic communication is the most efficient and expedient way to communicate ) but have received no response. Twice. Citi 's silence can only be imputed as its admission of negligence and its failure to correct its patent error in closing my acct and deeming it/me a " security risk '' without justification or explanation.
