Allied Account Services, Inc. Debt collection department,

Other (i.e. phone, health club, etc.) Disclosure verification of debt Not given enough info to verify debt Georgia

I agreed to pay a settlement amount on a debt. The credit collection company [ Allied Account Services ] stated they would send a settlement letter that would outline this agreement to pay a reduced amount on the debt and this would satisfy the payment of the full debt. The letter/invoice that was sent on -/-/2017 did not state this directly. There was no verbiage on the letter which stated that the creditor agreed to accept less than the full amount of the debt provided that I made the payment on the agreed upon date. The only reference on the letter was that a " payment amount of $230.00 is due in our office by -/-/2017. The arrangement is to settle the balance referenced above. '' I was n't comfortable with the contract it seemed very vague. This document seemed very unprofessional and not that of a reputable business in an attempt to collect debt legally. This felt like a scam.

and they were only allowed to send me the letter/invoice which I have. - ( then later her supervisor, - ) told me once I paid the reduced amount then the company would send me a settlement letter which stated that I agreed to pay of the debt at a reduced amount to satisfied the entire debt. I am not aware of this type of business practices. If we agreed on something it should be put in writing before a payment is made, that is the true essence of a contract. What recourse do I have that this company will honor the agreement after I send the payment with nothing in writing that outlines the premises of the agreement? I told them I was not comfortable with the letter/invoice that the sent. I told them what would stop them from saying after I sent the reduced amount that I owed an additional amount or even the full amount. I could n't with good conscience sign and send a payment on a contract that was so vague and potentially misleading. Even the remittance sheet showed the full amount. Nothing stated directly that this was an agreement to accept less than the full amount of the debt to satisfy the full amount of the debt. They told me this was all they could do and this is the only letter they would be sending me. These conversations occurred over the phone on -/-/2017 and -/-/2017. I spoke with - - ( who sent the letter ) then - - ( her supervisor ). They are not willing work with me and the debt will remain outstanding and impacts my credit score. There was no other recourse for me according to Allied Account Services , Inc .
