Closing/Cancelling account California
CitiBank Advantage card abruptly cancelled my card stating that I had " unusual payment '' history. When they refused to explain what that meant, I escalated to the office of President and CEO ... eventually finding out that is was because I paid my bill in cash. I was an " A '' rated customer ALWAYS paid on time. I offered to provide bank statements as to where the cash came from ( withdrawal from my checking account ) of - some years ... and they flat out refused. They have tagged me as a person who can not have a CitiCard in the future. I maintain large balances at CitiBank, I have been approved by the - ( in order to get a - ) ... have an excellent - own a home, lease a car..etc and ... I explained that I felt like a dolphin who got caught in a tuna net ... and would they please re examine, that I would provide any and all supporting documents or statements they would like..and it was a flat out " NO '' ( only real reason I cared ... .because I earned - - - ) but it was
To add insult to injury, in the midst of the dispute, as I awaited a response, I was late in that - payment ( waiting to see how they wanted me to handle the balance since card was cancelled ). Although I paid balance in full ( $ - dollars ) they reported that as a late payment to the credit bureaus and have refused, even as a one time courtesy ( an only time ) to remove it. I reapplied for the card a year later ( only for the - milage ) and was refused. I have - gold and platinum, so I do n't think I 'm much of a credit risk ... .after many phone calls with them ... it turns out that they have marked me much like someone on a " no fly '' list. It comes to mind every time - as they advertise HEAVILY for Citi Advantage card ... .and I fly a lot.
