Bank of America Credit card department,
I paid my statement balance, thinking that would avoid any interest. I was told when I spoke to a customer service rep, that the statement balance means nothing and that I need the pay the purchase balance in full on the date I make the payment, including purchased made after the statement was printed. I rely solely on the statement to determine how much I need to pay, and I try to pay the purchase balance in full to avoid interest. I do not think it is fair to charge interest on a balance that is unknown until the next statement arrives.
