Amex Credit card department,
Advertising and marketing Illinois
In -, I signed up for a credit card from American Express. The card, the -, was being marketed with a sign-up offer of - - and - - Miles ( - ). I only received half of each of those figures : - SkyMiles and - MQMs. I have contacted Amex several times, both over the phone and via their website. Each time, they have refused to admit a mistake and lengthened the time they expect their investigation to take. I have documentation of the offer, both directly from American Express ' website and from the company 's paid content on credit-card advisory websites. However, all of their agents have refused to look at this. Putting an exact value on the miles I am missing is difficult. The -, which can be used for a variety of - purchases, including airfare, are worth a minimum on - cent each against - fees and can be worth between one and one and a half cents when used for - flights. Even using the conservative one-cent valuation, American Express ' mistake cost me $350.00. The - - - are very difficult to value, as they are used to earn various privileges - upgrades to -, priority boarding, etc. ) on - flights. At this point, I can find no way of putting a monetary value on them, so I have excluded them from my estimate of how much money I lost.
