Citibank Credit card department,
Credit card protection / Debt protection Oregon
Sears Credit Card a subsidiary of Citi Bank sent an unsolicited notice that they were " Upgrading '' my card to a Master Card. A few years back they used this same ploy and I received the card, again with out my approval, and had to contact them to reverse the process. The deceptive practices used in the mailing sent are like any other solicitation for a credit card except in the fact that you have to opt out rather than accept their offer. Also the " upgrade '' contained no information on the rates that would be charged with this new card possibly creating a financial difficulty for those who did no catch the " opt out '' requirement.
