On -/-/2016 my debit card was used fraudulently to purchase - dollars worth of t-shirts from a company called -.online. I notified Netspend, the company who issued the debit card, on -/-/2016 of the fraudulent charges. I filed a police report with the - Police department. Police report number -. The detective was able to determine that other people had their debit cards used fraudulently to purchase items from -online. Netspend performed an investigation and determined that I am responsible for these charges. This is completely unacceptable and unethical. Per the Electronic Fund Transfer Act, if I report these unauthorized fraudulent charges within 60 days, the most I could be held responsible for is - dollars. Even - dollars is questionable per the FTC which states, " if someone makes unauthorized charges with your debit card number, but your card is not lost, you are not liable for those transactions if you report them within 60 days ''.
