Citibank Credit card department,
Credit card protection / Debt protection Florida
I received a letter from Citicards regarding Citi Payment Safeguard Classic an optional program for which you are charged a monthly fee to protect my card in the case of job loss, -, or loss of life. This was the first time I had heard of this program, but the letter stated I was enrolled in the program. I called the number provided to cancel and inquire if charges had been made to my account. I talked to - different people after being transferred multiple times. First I was told the charges began in -, then another representative said it was since - when I opened my account. This all was without my knowledge or agreeing to this program. I have been unemployed twice during this period and hospitalized. I could have used this benefit in each situation. After being assured I was canceled from this program I asked to be refunded the money and file a complaint. No person was available to talk to me, I was given a - address and told it was going to take 30 days for my inquiry to be acknowledged. No phone number exists fro me to follow up on my claim as - the customer representative told me they do not even have a number connected to the -. Her concern was whether the phone calls had been handled correctly, not the issue I was trying to resolve.
