JPMorgan Chase & Co. Credit card department,
Unsolicited issuance of credit card Texas
From -/-/- to -/-/- Chase has made three credit inquiries with credit bureaus in furtherance of the issuance of a credit card. On all three occasions I contacted Chase and advised them I had not applied for or requested a credit card. On all three occasions Chase closed the application- although they mailed me a credit card on the first occasion ( which I destroyed ). On all three occasions Chase informed me that the applications originated with Amazon, in connection with their agreement with Amazon. On all three occasions Chase informed me that they would withdrew the inquiry and that the inquiry would not appear on my credit report. On all three occasions I subsequently contacted Amazon. On the first occasion Amazon believed that the application came from an account primarily used by my son. I spoke to my son and he denied making any application for a credit card. He subsequently closed that Amazon account.
During my telephone call to Chase regarding the most recent incident I informed Chase that although they had previously assured me that the credit inquiries would be withdrawn, they were still appearing on my credit report. Now there are three inquiries on my credit report from Chase. They could not explain why the inquiries have not been removed. During my last inquiry with Amazon they asked me to keep my account open so they could run " security checks ''. I subsequently received an email stating that no security problems were found. Since the credit card applications seemed to list my current mailing address I am assuming that it is not part of a credit or identity theft effort. I ca n't explain whey it originated but I am assuming that the reason it re-occurs is due to a system program that regenerates the application request when it notices that a credit card was not issued due to the original application. It seems that the system recognized this and that explains why the first two were exactly one month apart ( -/-/- and -/-/- ). The fact that I had a fraud block on my account might explain why subsequent attempts were foiled until the fraud block expired. I have asked Amazon to research this but do n't know if they will.
