Amex Credit card department,
Customer service / Customer relations New York
American Express charged me a membership fee but hid the charge on my statement rather than post it online where I check everyday and where every other charge is posted. If I had n't scoured the statement, I would not have noticed it. I do n't like paying membership fees so my plan was to call and ask them to waive it or cancel my card. When I finally noticed the charge ( 2 weeks later ), I called but they said they were not authorized to speak with me - only my husband. He called a week later ( he 's busy and works 12+ hour days ) and they said there were no issues and I was able to speak with them. So they lied to me when I called on purpose so I would n't be able to ask them to waive the fee or cancel the card. I then went away for 10 days and when I came back and called them, they said I missed the 30 day window to cancel and be refunded the fee. American Express is extremely deceptive by lying to me so that I could n't get the fee waived and cancel the account in a timely manner. They stole money from me that is rightfully mine by their lies and deception.
