Amex Credit card department,
Application processing delay California
I was applying for an American Express Gold card so that I could purchase presale tickets. I told the agent I only wanted the card if it could be issued before the presale date. He assured me the card would be expedited so that I would have it within 2 business days. Based on this information I applied for the card and was approved. After it was approved, the agent told me that in fact the card would take - to 10 business days to be issued. I spoke with a supervisor and explained that I was given false information in order to apply for the card, but was told there was nothing they could do about it. Further, they told me that the Gold card can not ever be expedited, which means the agent knowingly gave me false information in order to get me to apply for the card. After spending an hour talking to customer service, all they would do was try to get me to submit another application for a Platinum card. They do n't seem to care that their agent gave someone false information to get them to apply for the card. All they care about is that I now want to cancel the card. The credit inquiry is now on my credit report and I now have a credit card that I do n't want.
