I opened up a secure credit card after my recent divorce.I did n't realize at the time it had a monthly rewards fee. I was able to get other credit cards that were not secure and decided to close the account. This account was attached to my business account and my office admin contacted Wells Fargo twice to have it closed. The third time I called myself. It finally closes, except by the time they do close it ( - more months later ) ... and only after I got into a shouting match with the guy from Wells Fargo who did n't seem to understand that the card was secure and we did n't owe any money, and if acter were owed a little over $50.00. My office is receiving -3 calls a day about 3 times a week. Then we received a letter today advising that due to our handling of the account they were closing and that we owed - in late fees. An hour or so after getting this in the mail, Wells Fargo called ... and my office admin again got no relief and ended up in a verbal dispute with the debt collector. I am very upset with the tactics, the extra fees, and the refusal to do what was asked ... as well as the fact that Wells Fargo does not offer an option to close directly from the online banking portal. In addition, I was charged a $39.00 late fee on -/-/2016 despite a payment being made on the - which is shown on the statement. The reason that I closed the account on the date that I did was because I did n't want the - charged to my account again and I could not locate contact info for the company. It was supposed to be an one time online purchase.
