Below is the letter that was sent to Equifax today along with a copy of the CFBP dispute case this is in reference to : " Equifax : I ordered my credit report from your bureau and found an inaccuracy I wish to bring to your attention. I previously disputed this directly through Equifax and did not get the result I was hoping for. I had to involve the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to resolve this issue. The CFPB intervened on my behalf and the company that reported incorrect information gave me the attached response through the CFPB website. I opened another official complaint on the CFBP website to address this but am also sending this letter with tracking information to ensure delivery date and time. - which is on my credit report as " - - - '' incorrectly reported an account as charged off and late. After getting the CFPB involved - agreed in - to " reverse the charge off status of the account, and reverse any negative credit marks assessed after - 2013. '' It is now - - and the negative remarks remain and the charge off status remains. I request that you honor this company 's request to reverse the charge off status and remove the negative marks as they are incorrect. I have this in writing from - which was provided to me through the CFPB website. '' The CFPB case number in which - agreed to reverse the negative remarks and correct their mistake is : - The CFPB has my authorization to share all the details of this case with Equifax to expedite fixing this error. I am also attaching the printed off response from - that was given through the CFPB portal.
