We made on time installment payments on a line of credit for the term of the loan. After the last coupon in the book, Mariner Finance advised to call and receive the amount of the last payment. We called and left a message. We never received any correspondence or a return call to confirm if there was any outstanding amount owed. This past week we received a letter threatening us that a lawyer will be filing paperwork within 5 days if we do n't pay the past due amount which was not even listed on the letter. The letter was not certified and arrived as regular mail. We would have paid the amount due if we were aware of how much was owed but we received no final bill or correspondence in any way. We also tried to consolidate outstanding debt with a new loan by Mariner Finance and during that process was never told there was an outstanding balance due and that in order to get the loan we needed a co-signer but no mention whatsoever by the rep or by the letter received referring to the loan decision. We would like Mariner Finance to send us and the credit bureau a letter satisfying our debt paid and to acknowledge the discrepancy was caused by their inability to communicate in writing and voicemail that an outstanding balance was due that was not included in the coupon book and our credit should be restored showing no delinquency of payment.
