Equifax Credit reporting department,
Incorrect information on credit report Account status Oregon
Account status is a critical information upon which lender may rely to assess credit worthiness. Equifax should make sure that account status information, including any additional extraneous information they add to the credit report, is accurate. This is not the case. Instead of simply correcting the status of the loan as requested, Equifax added inaccurate information. On -/-/16, Equifax reported - - / Account No. - status as 'Pay as agreed. ' On -/-/16 and -/-/16, the consumer and the lending company ( - - ) reported to Equifax that - - had been sold to - - - As of - 2016, Consumer had no open student loan with - - - ( see fax from - dated -/-/2016 ). On - -, 2016, Equifax changed the status of Account No. - - - - - to 'transfer/sold. ' This is correct but Equifax also added : 'ADDITIONAL INFORMATION - consumer disputes this account information ... '' This extraneous statement is inaccurate. We disputed the previous account information ( i.e. Equifax 's failure to report the loan as closed and transferred ), not the current status ( closed ). We did not dispute the current status of the loan. Equifax must correct the credit report, i.e. remove reference to a dispute.
