Citi mailed me, to my home address, a pre-approved credit card application. When I completed it, Citi turned me down because ( as they explained over the phone ) they could n't verify I lived at that *very same home address*. They put me in a Catch-22 : they mailed me an application with my name on it and then disbelieved that I live where they mailed it. My complaint is not that I was denied credit. My complaint is that, thanks to the denial, there 's now an unfulfilled request for credit on my credit history. Citi should not be sending out applications that are doomed from the start to be denied.
