I have had a Macy 's American Express card for a couple of years. Out of the blue this week I received a letter from Citibank that I have been enrolled in a Credit Protection plan that I never agreed to ; and in order to avoid being charged I need to call Citibank. I have never knowingly signed up for such a plan and believe this to be fraud on the part of Citibank and - -. I have canceled the card, but it is my understanding that these " opt out '' programs are not legal
